Nanooks Take the Lead Against Seawolves in the Race for the Governor's Cup
The Nanooks are currently taking the lead in the Alaska Airlines Governor’s Cup. The last home game is this weekend, February 8th, 2025, when the winner of the Governor’s Cup will be announced.
Nanooks vs. Northwest Nazarene University
January 30th, 2025, the Nanooks Women’s Basketball team faced off against Northwest Nazarene University. However, with only four seconds to spare, the opposing team got a three-pointer, ending the second period with a 41-38 score.
Nanooks Swim Team Wins Against Westmont College
An electric atmosphere led the last Nanooks swim team to a victory on January 17, against Westmont College. The Nanooks won with a 156-49 score. This meet concluded the home meets for the 2024 to 2025 season.
Athlete Spotlight: Janci Pangburn
“My dad knew swimming was a good sport to get into that you could do your whole life,” said Janci Pangburn, sophomore, who participates in the 50, 100, 200-sprint freestyle as well as the 200, 400, and 800 freestyle for the Nanooks swim team.
Nanooks Hockey Take the Win Against Simon Fraser University
The Nanooks hockey team faced off against Simon Fraser University on January 11 after beating them 2-1 the day prior. The Nanooks started the first period off strong with Luke Johnson delivering two goals, putting the Nanooks in the lead with 2-0.
UAF Hosts First Race on New Ski Trails
The UAF Nanooks ski team competed against the UAA Seawolves ski team in the Nordic Cup this past weekend on the new UAF Competition Ski Trails. On Friday, December 6, 2024, UAF and UAA skiers competed against one another in the 10-kilometer freestyle event. The next day, skiers participated in 1.25-kilometer classic sprints.
Nanooks vs. Western Washington
The Nanooks Volleyball team wraps up this season with 21 victories. The most recent victory was against Western Washington University on November 23rd, 2024.

On October 26, the Alaska Nanooks men’s basketball team had their annual alumni match, beating the alumni by a landslide.
UAF Volleyball Achieves Fifth Win in a Row
On Friday, November 2, the Alaska Nanooks women’s volleyball team won against the Seattle Pacific University Falcons. This was the Nanook’s fifth win in a row.
The Nanooks Are Ice Block Classic Champions for Eighth Year in a Row
On September 12, the Nanooks volleyball team won against Felician University in the Ice Block Classic with a 3-0 victory.
Nanooks Hockey Team Captain Achieves Sought-After Hat Trick
On January 26th, 2024, the Nanooks Hockey team played against the Long Island University Sharks.
Harrison Israels, the team captain, achieved his first NCAA hat-trick, meaning he scored three goals in the same game. In the first period, #14 Anton Rubtsov passed the puck to Harry, giving him his first goal and leading to many more successful passes to help Harrison achieve the hat-trick.
Nanooks’ First Men’s Basketball Home Game of the Season
On November 10th, 2023 the Nanooks Men’s Basketball team played against Hawaii Pacific University and won with a 69-64 score with nine fouls against them and nine fouls against Hawaii.
Seattle Mountaineers Scrimmage
The Alaska Nanooks Men’s Basketball team had a scrimmage against a semi-pro team, the Seattle Mountaineers, on October 30th and October 31st, 2023. As the Nanooks warmed up for their season starting in November, they gave their “A Game” during the scrimmage. As the season starts off we support you to watch the Nanooks games.
Denali Ice Breaker Tournament
September 7th the Nanooks lost against the Seawolves of Anchorage with set one ending in a 17/25, set two ending with 25/18, and the final set closing out at 17/25, overall resulting in a loss for the Nanooks with a 3/0 game.
